Resisting Instruction!
Proverbs 15:32 "Whoever ignores instruction despises himself, but he who listens to reproof gains Intelligence." This snippet from the book of Proverbs speaks about the importance of listening to and applying Divine Instruction. How do you know when you're receiving Divine Instruction? There are many people, especially on social media, giving advice and instructions on how to live a happier and God filled life. Some will even ridicule your current practices just to prove that what they're saying is right and what you're doing is wrong, that is not Divine Instruction. Some instruction and advice about how to live a happier, fuller and God filled life should be ignored, as the saying goes "eat the meat and throw out the bones." Only the Holy Spirit can give you the gift of discernment, so you will know what information or instruction that you may hear from the pulpit, to social media, and from your closest friend, that should be applied to your life; for God does his work through his creations so don't resist instructions, ask the Holy Spirit if this information is right for you.
The Serenity prayer by Reinhold Neibur comes to mind as I write: "God grant me the Serenity to accept the things I cannot change, Courage to change the things I can, and Wisdom to know the difference."
